Preparing poster and uniting two enviorments

This week me and Marvis made the poster for the XSEDE conference that is taking place next week. Marvis is one of the three interns that will be going to the conference to present their research. Even though I'm not going, I still helped Marvis make the poster because we're both working on the same project and it we can also use parts of this poster for the one we have to present at the end of the summer.

Since we are still in the first stages of developing the demo, we're mostly presenting the overview of our project, a background of seizure and the postictal stage and the symptoms that we're going to be assimilating, which are visual impairment, respiratory dysfunction and auditory impairment. We are mainly concentrating in explaining how we are representing these post symptoms in our VR demo.

We also worked in uniting both environments together, as in me adding my house in Marvis' terrain. Adding the house was easier than I thought it was going to be. Fortunately, there were no major issues with the house, just a couple of ticks we were able to fix within the hour. It was really exciting seeing the demo starting to come together and being able to walk in Marvis Terrain into the 3D house I had been working on.

Challenge of the week: In order to get test the first version of the demo, we needed to make sure it worked with the Oculus and the Leap Motion Sensor. We wanted to take a picture of a person with the Oculus in an angle where the screen could be seen playing the demo. We also wanted to show the Leap Motion being used, as in, see the hands of the person in 3D in the demo. Getting the Leap Motion to work took some time, mainly because there were a couple of things that had to be set up first before testing it.

How we overcame that challenge: We spend almost all of week staying after hours trying to get the first version of the demo done before Friday and doing the poster for XSEDE 16. At times it was frustrating, but at the end we were able to get everything working and it felt very rewarding seeing the demo run with the Leap Motion Sensor. I got very excited to see how the environments looked in VR, and the interactions that can be done so far.
